Manage your Impact Account profile privacy

You can choose whether to allow your Impact Account profile to be discoverable on Charitable Impact. If your Impact Account profile is discoverable, you’ll be able to select what information on the profile is visible to others.

Making your Impact Account profile discoverable is an opportunity to let others see what causes matter to you, the charities and groups you support, and how much you’re committed to set aside for charitable giving each year (also known as your giving goal).

Allowing your Impact Account profile to be discoverable means that others will be able to view it when:

  • The Impact Account name is shared when gifts are sent to charities, Giving Groups or Campaigns
  • Your personal profile is discoverable and the Impact Account is made visible to the public
This feature is currently only available on the web, and is not yet available on the mobile app.

Turn Discoverability on or off

On the web:

  1. Select your Impact Account on the Home screen.
  2. Select Impact Account settings in the left-hand navigation.
  3. Select the Privacy tab.
  4. Select the toggle to turn Discoverability on or off.

Visibility

Visibility enables you to select what information on the Impact Account profile can be seen by others. Visibility selections become available when you allow an Impact Account profile to be discoverable.

You can choose from three levels of visibility for the following details on the Impact Account profile:

  • Causes and topics
  • Display name with link to your personal profile
  • Favourite charities
  • Favourite Giving Groups
  • Giving goal

There are two levels of visibility available:

  • Public - Information will be visible to all users who view your Impact Account profile on Charitable Impact
  • Private - Information will only be visible to you

To change the level of visibility, select the drop down menu next to each category and select Public or Private.

Note: If you make your display name visible to the Public, this means others will be able to see your display name on your Impact Account profile and select it to view your personal profile.

If your personal profile discoverability is turned off, others will still see your display name on your Impact Account profile, but they will not be able to select it to view your personal profile. Learn how to manage your personal profile privacy.

  1. Select your Impact Account on the Home screen.
  2. Select Impact Account profile from the menu on the left.
  3. Select View what others see to see how your Impact Account profile is displayed to the public.
