Donations made without a CHIMP Account
If you made your donation through CHIMP but don’t have an account, we sent the tax receipt to the email address that you provided. Our emails are sometimes automatically filtered before they get to your inbox, so if you can’t find your tax receipt, we suggest checking your Junk or Spam folders.
If you still can’t find your tax receipt, contact us below and we’d be happy to help.
Why is the name of the charity not on the tax receipt?
All donations made through CHIMP are legally made to CHIMP: Charitable Impact Foundation (Canada), and the tax receipt is issued by the foundation. As a public foundation, CHIMP Foundation then sends your gift to the charity you've chosen. Learn more about CHIMP Foundation here.
If you have a CHIMP Account, you’ll find a record of all the charities you’ve previously given to. If you don’t have an account, the charity name will be included in the tax receipt email.
Can I get a tax receipt if I live in the U.S.?
While we're able to process donations from U.S. donors, CHIMP Foundation can only issue a Canadian tax receipt at this time.
Why do I get a tax receipt when I add money instead of when I give it away?
CHIMP: Charitable Impact Foundation manages the money deposited to CHIMP accounts and sent through CHIMP. The foundation ensures your gift gets to the charity you chose.
Can I get a tax receipt in someone else's name?
By law, tax receipts have to be issued to the "true donor" — the person who actually pays for the donation.
If your child has a CHIMP Account and adds money to it with your credit card, the tax receipt should be made out to you, or the parent who pays the credit card bill (even if the card is in the child's name). So, when donating on CHIMP make sure the tax receipt recipient is filled out with the name of the true donor.
Spouses can share a CHIMP Account and choose who gets the receipts if the account has more than one credit card associated with it. That said, it's simpler if each person has their own CHIMP Account.
